Since this release, vagrant can (but does not, by default) disable the creation of symbolic links in VirtualBox shared folders. Vagrant will warn the user if symbolic links are allowed - see https://github.com/hashicorp/vagrant/pull/9354 and https://github.com/hashicorp/vagrant/pull/9389 for details.
